jazz1.jpgI am reading this book, again, because it is just a really good book all around. The author, Donald Miller, knows how to make readers laugh while at the same time get a good message across. I would have to say that he is one of my favorite contemporary authors. For example here his a passage he wrote concerning money:

“Writers don’t make any money at all. We make about a dollar. It is terrible. But then again we don’t work either. We sit around in our underwear until noon then go downstairs and make coffee, fry some eggs, read the paper, read part of a book, smell the book, wonder if perhaps we ourselves should work on our book, smell the book again, throw the book across the room because we are quite jealous that any other person wrote a book, feel terribly guilty about throwing the schmuck’s book across the room because we secretly wonder if God in heaven noticed our evil jealousy, or worse, our laziness. We then lie across the couch facedown and mumble to God to forgive us because we are secretly afraid He is going to dry up all our words because we envied another man’ stupid words. And for this, as I said before, we are paid a dollar. We are worth so much more.”

Like I said, he is one interesting guy. But the book is so crazy and yet very knowledgeable. So I would highly recommend this book, especially since this is my second time reading it.

So This morning was a little difficult to wake up because of the Harry Potter Hangover. What I mean is that I read the book 9 hours straight until 1am then had to wake up at 7. But I woke up and at breakfast was still reading the book. I am a little more than halfway through right now, and am loving it every minute. I am trying to stay off websites so the end of the book isn’t ruined for me, but I will find out anyway in about a day.

But it was kind of funny that my sister and I were both on the couch for several hours reading our own copies of the book. But she had to go wait in line for hers (it wasn’t too bad, only about 30 minutes), where I got mine in the mailbox (I pre-ordered mine through Amazon, and was reading it by 1).

I am so excited to see how it ends!
